WHERE: Nowhere Else, 190 Townsend Rd, Martinsville, OH 45146
WHEN: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 1-3, 2023, Labor Day Weekend. Festival gates open at 9am. Music starts at 1pm. (Friday, September 1, VIP festive picnic on the farm and private concert for VIP ticket holders. Thank you for your generous support/patronage of the festival.)
WHY: Proceeds from the festival will help us continue restoring a 140-year-old barn into a fully-functioning performing arts center where we can “pay forward” some of what we’ve learned in the last 30 years. We are already beginning to host intimate concerts and workshops, record future albums and nurture younger artists. Nowhere Else is a place where we intend to share all the good stuff: good music, good food, good conversation, good wine, good stories, good moonrises. Join us!
FAQ
Hey good folks,
Start making plans now to join us Labor Day Weekend, September 1-3, 2023, for a gathering that is sure to be celebratory and meaningful. (Note: we have permanently moved Nowhere Else Festival to Labor Day Weekend moving forward.)
Thanks to all of you who have attended past festivals for helping us establish a world-class boutique music and arts festival that feels like an extended musical family reunion. It really is a festival unlike any other. It all unfurls on our small farm in Ohio. And there is room at this table for everyone.
We have already begun working to confirm a truly amazing group of musicians, writers and artists. Feeling grateful. We are looking forward to being inspired and making many new connections and discoveries right along with the rest of you.
This will be our seventh annual Nowhere Else Festival, and these amazing weekends have undoubtedly become some of the highlights of our career. They just keep getting better and better.
We will follow CDC recommendations and the recommendations of our festival doctor should there be a significant health concern in our area. Currently, masks are optional for indoor events on site, but may be required for some performances or workshops if an artist should request it.

If you’d like to stay close to Nowhere Else:
Wilmington, Ohio, is an old Quaker college town about 20 minutes up the road. They have a number of hotels, B&B’s etc. There is a nice bike trail in Wilmington, as well as grocery stores, restaurants and other amenities.
There are also a smattering of B&B’S in Hillsboro, Ohio, and the surrounding area.
The Roberts Centre is a nearby, large Holiday Inn/Convention Center with amenities located at 123 Gano Rd, Wilmington, OH 45177. Easy access from Interstate 71.

There are cabins and tent camping facilities available at Cowan Lake State Park (15-20 minutes away). And at Rocky Fork State Park near Hillsboro, Ohio (30 minutes away). There are other state parks close by/in the vicinity – Caesar Creek State Park, Stonelick State Park, Paint Creek State Park etc.
Murphin Ridge Inn (about 45 miles south of Nowhere Else) has more luxurious cabins and guest rooms, and beautiful grounds (150+ acres) right in the heart of Amish Country. (Murphin also has a restaurant in an old 1828 farmhouse with a good wine list etc.)
The town of Yellow Springs, Ohio, is very unique and diverse with a lot to offer, and is an easy (and beautiful) 45 minute drive. There are wonderful parks and hiking/biking trails nearby.
If you’re hungry for green space, there is also great hiking and lodging east of Nowhere Else about 25 miles:

(Cabins and unique options available.) You will feel like you went down a rabbit hole and ended up on the Appalachian Trail. Gorgeous area.
Other activities in the surrounding area (Monday is Labor Day): There is much to explore in Clinton County and the surrounding areas. The city of Cincinnati is about an hour away, and is a wonderful old river town with lots of attractions – the Cincinnati Art Museum, beautiful parks, the neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine, Findlay Market, The Cincinnati Reds and many excellent restaurants. Karin and Linford were married at Seasongood Pavilion in Eden Park, right across from the Cincinnati Art Museum. Mt. Adams is a fun neighborhood with great river views near the park. There are also sprawling parks along the riverfront and bike trails that stretch for many miles. If you’re unfamiliar, you will love Cincinnati.
Festival Camping
Hello campers!
We’re looking forward to seeing you at Nowhere Else Festival in September!
Here is some info regarding the camping sites we are offering this year. We are still relatively new to opening up a few areas here at Nowhere Else to field camping. Keep in mind that the festival takes place on a small farm with lots of green space, but very limited infrastructure.
Passes for all camping sites here at Nowhere Else will be $100 for the festival weekend. (All the proceeds will go toward making the experience as camping friendly as possible. So far, we’ve installed a footbridge and a fresh potable water pump.)
Campers with VIP festival passes can arrive at 2pm on Friday, September 1st. (Friday’s festive picnic dinner is at 5:30pm, Private OtR Concert at 7pm.)
Campers with non-VIP weekend festival passes can arrive Saturday morning, September 3rd, at 9am, when gates open.
One field is designated for campers who will be running generators. One field is reserved for those with no generators. *You can park your vehicle at your campsite for the duration of the festival, and also come and go freely if necessary.
Check out: Camping sites must be vacated, and all trash placed in receptacles no later than 11am on Monday, September 5.
We are describing the experience as “field camping.” You can select a spot along the edges of one of the hay fields here on the farm. The only amenities available to campers will be clean portalets, hand washing stations, lined trash cans and a pump near the barn with clean potable water that can be used for filling containers. No electric service, shower facilities or plumbing hookups will be available.
Food trucks on the festival site are typically serving food by 11am on Saturday and Sunday, and serve well into the evenings.
For the comfort of all campers, festival staff and our neighbors in the surrounding community, quiet hours must be strictly observed between midnight and 7am.
Some of the camping sites will have at least some partial shade at various times of day, but be prepared for full sun.
Depending on wind and weather, each field will have a shared fire pit. No additional personal fires are permitted.
No pets. (We love animals, but are unable to allow pets on site due to festival insurance constraints. Registered ADA service dogs are permitted.)
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. It will certainly be earthy, and not fancy, but hopefully fun and memorable too! We’re hoping the close proximity to the festival site, and not having to deal with hotels will be helpful.
